A BILL to amend article two, chapter eighteen of the code Bill Titleof West
Virginia, one thousand nine hundred thirty-one, as amended,
by adding thereto a new section, designated section five-e,
relating to restricting the use of student social security
numbers. Title Language
Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That article two, chapter eighteen Enacting Sectionof the code of West
Virginia, one thousand nine hundred thirty-one, as amended, be
amended by adding thereto a new section, designated section five-
e, to read as follows:
Article 2. STATE BOARD OF EDUCATION
§18-2-5e. Use of student social security numbers restricted.
No public or private elementary or secondary school or
college or university shall display any student's social security number to identify students for posting or public listing of
grades, on class rosters or other lists provided to teachers, on
student identification cards, in student directories or similar
listings, or, unless specifically authorized or required by law,
for any public identification purpose.
NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to Title Languagerestrict the use of
student social security numbers.
